This lovely anthem combines the traditional English folk melody, 'O Waly Waly', with a meaningful new text by arranger Shirley W. McRae. The piece is written for unison/two part voices with soprano recorder (or flute), soprano/alto glockenspiels, and keyboard. The powerful Advent text speaks of the hurts in our world, as it asks for Christ's healing love to come to us. Many wonderful discussions with choristers could evolve from this text. Composer: English folk melody Arranger: Shirley W. McRae Text Author: Shirley W. McRae.

Composed by Robert A. Howard. 21st Century,Christmas,Classical,Folk,Sacred. Score. 7 pages. Robert A. Howard #692997. Published by Robert A. Howard (A0.1088788).

This piece is an original arrangement based on the wistful English folk melody 'Barbara Allen'. It takes the form of a 7-verse Epiphany carol, with introduction and coda, setting a poem by Laurie Twinam. The vocal line, for any solo voice or for unison voices, retains the folk tune contour throughout, within the range of low D to high D. Around this, the piano accompaniment weaves a set of characterful variations, as a commentary on each differing verse, which is always linked by a 2-bar 'turnaround'. The work explores aspects of both major and minor tonality, as well as modality (with the characteristic flattened seventh), thus working within and around the given folk idiom. This piece is appropriate for virtually any standard and size of unison choir, including school, student, community, church and cathedral choirs, as well as for just solo voice. The accompaniment can be on piano, or for organ if slightly adapted by the player. The 2-part SA and 4-part SATB versions of this piece, as well as the solo piano version (Variations on 'Barbara Allen') by the same composer are also available via Sheet Music Plus. Duration: 4 minutes. Registered with PRS (Performing Rights Society, UK).

Composed by Traditional Austrian Carol. Arranged by Marcus Martin. Children,Christmas,Romantic Period. Score. 5 pages. Cornelius Edition (uk) #6133717. Published by Cornelius Edition (uk) (A0.805576).

This Traditional Austrian Carol is re-arranged for solo voice and piano by. Marcus Martin. The melody is a folk tune from the district of Salzburg and appeared for the first time in 1865 in a folksong collection by Vinzenz Maria Süß (1802–1868),  founder of the Salzburg Museum. There were originally 5 stanzas of German text, here reduced to 4 verses in English with 3 possible permutations of performance. Although intended for solo voice the carol is equally effective sung by a unison choir and also suitable for children's voices. For more arrangements by Marcus Martin please visit
