Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1172921 Composed by Carl M. Steubing. 20th Century,A Cappella,Contemporary,Multicultural,World. 2 pages. Carl M. Steubing Memorial Music Fund, Inc. #773130. Published by Carl M. Steubing Memorial Music Fund, Inc. (A0.1172921). “I hope that he can see in me, his brotherâ€. “Brothers†is an original musical work. The music is composed by Carl M. Steubing and the words are from a poem written by Carl’s good friend Miles J. Martin.  The opening lyrics, “Who is that manâ€, refers to an older Asian gentleman Miles encountered during vacation in the Far East. They were strangers that could not communicate, but when their eyes met they smiled at each other, and Miles recognized the man as his brother.  Shortly thereafter Miles sat down and wrote the poem called “Brothersâ€. Carl M. Steubing wrote the music, and it was published in 1967. This song was very relevant back in 1967 but has even more significance today. Brothers (and sisters) around the world are looking to belong in our chaotic world. They are searching for more connections, more empathy, and more love for each other.  No matter where you are from, the color of your skin, the faith you follow, or the person you choose to love, may we all find a way to look into each other’s eyes, smile and see in each other our brother or sister.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.972797 Composed by John Sandford. Arranged by John Sandford. Folk,World. Octavo. 5 pages. John A Sandford #6036613. Published by John A Sandford (A0.972797). The famous 18th century Scottish ballad has been given a 21st century makeover! Although I like the well known tune made popular by the Clancy Brothers and the Gypsy Kings (among others), I feel it only really works as a solo unaccompanied song with a relaxed pulse. My melody line is more suited to accompanied singing where the piano provides a strong rhythmic support for the melody line. Some very simple harmonies are included, but the piece could easily be sung by a single voice (male or female) or as a duet. Please note that a simplified (SAB) version is also available to purchase from Sheet Music Plus.

Thanks, John.   This song began life in 1930 as a nine-bar phrase with the working title There's No Stopping Me Now.  Its title phrase Nice work if you can get it came from an English magazine.  It was one of nine songs the Gershwin brothers wrote for the movie A Damsel in Distress in which it was performed by Fred Astaire with backing vocals by The Stafford Sisters.  The song was published in 1937.  The first jazz recording of the work was by Tommy Dorsey three weeks after the release of the film.  The song was recorded by many jazz singers and adopted by bebop instrumentalists; Jerry Newman recorded pianist Thelonious Monk performing the tune in 1941 at Minton's Playhouse, a nightclub closely connected with early bebop, and he subsequently recorded it several times.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.942861 Composed by James W. Knox. Contemporary,Folk. Octavo. 110 pages. Knox Music #4580161. Published by Knox Music (A0.942861). Jack and his Fortune is a major choral worked based on Flora Annie Steel's version of How Jack went out to seek his fortune.  The original Irish folktale, Jack and his Comrades dates back to 1866. Throughout many years this story has taken on other similar stories like the well known Town Musicians of Bremen by Brothers Grimm.  Each movement (six total) takes you on a grand journey of a boy named Jack who is seeking fortune.  Not long after, several traveling companions (cat, dog, goat, bull and rooster) follow him in hopes of finding fortune as well.Traveling all day, the darkness began to settle for the night and they are in need of a place to stay. Finding a house, Jack discovers robbers counting their stolen gold.  He comes up with a plan and scares the robbers away.  Jack was smart and he knew that one of the robbers would be back in the middle of the night to take back the gold.  He places each animal in different areas of the house to scare the robber away.  What happens next is a frenzy of mishaps  that eventually scare the robber away for good!
