A wintry landscape, a miracle, a wondrous season: all these are evoked in this traditional English Christmas carol that's also popular among Celtic music fans.  Arranged as a jubilant guitar quartet, this snowy atmospheric music is recommended for Christmas plays, pageants and programs, holiday recitals and Christmas concerts as well as traditional Christmas church services and other seasonal worship events.  Suggested uses: prelude, postlude, offertory, interlude, Christmas play overture, special music and silent prayer accompaniment.  Key: G major.  14 pages of music (that includes the score and separate two-page parts for guitar 1, guitar 2, guitar 3 and guitar 4)     What can I give Him, poor as I am?     If I were a shepherd, I would give a lamb.     If I were a wise man, I would do my part     But what can I give Him?  Give Him my heart. .

Guitar Ensemble Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1085456 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Traditional. Score and parts. 23 pages. Derek Hasted #689606. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.1085456). PORTSMOUTH - 4 GUITARS or LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes Although this piece was made famous by Mike Oldfield, it first appeared in John Playford’s “The Dancing Master†in 1701, and also found fame in the hands of Ralph Vaughan Williams. My arrangement starts with a slow, teasing, introduction, and introduces the famous melody very slowly and gently. “What Shall We Do With The Drunken Sailor†also makes a few appearances before we let the brakes off and burst into the tune that many people know. The music isn’t hard to play, and each line has some music interest, though only Guitar 1 has to venture up the neck. It’s ideal for a mixed ability ensemble, and runs at nearly five minutes, to make a substantial concert item that builds up and up. This arrangement was a firm favourite with the Hampshire Guitar Orchestra (HAGO) and their audiences. I hope you enjoy this piece as much as HAGO did!

Guitar - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797754 Composed by Traditional German. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Christmas,Folk. 14 pages. Derek Hasted #4796597. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797754). SUSSER DIE GLOCKEN NIE KLINGEN (Sweeter the bells never sound) - 4 GUITARS/LARGE ENSEMBLE For Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This delightful tune is a traditional Thuringian Folk Melody, and has become a well-loved German Carol with the English translation Sweeter the bells never sound than at Christmas time. This piece of music is ideal for a novice mixed-ability guitar ensemble - it would be an ideal instrumental for a School Christmas concert, but is also in a good key for accompanying singers. Two Guitar 1 parts are provided - you can use either or both, depending on the skill of the players in your ensemble. Guitar 1b is all first (or second) position, whereas Guitar 1a is all in VII position - the part score is thoroughly fingered. The other parts are all straightforward. But as well as being a fantastic piece for a school concert, it is also great in an adult concert, since it has immediate audience appeal and needs minimal preparation in experienced hands.I hope you enjoy performing this!

Guitar Ensemble Guitar - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797724 Composed by John Henry Hopkins Jr. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Christmas,Classical,Multicultural,World. Score and parts. 23 pages. Derek Hasted #3872967. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797724). WE THREE KINGS - SPANISH STYLE - 4 GUITARS/LARGE ENSEMBLE For Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes Ever wondered what would have happened if the carol We Three Kings had been composed in Spain? Now you can find out with this accessible, tongue-in-cheek arrangement of the traditional Christmas piece but in Malagueña style.... Full of bursting energy and driving Malagueña bass lines, there are also wistful moments with the tune is handed around the ensemble. Rodrigo, he of the Concierto de Aranjuez, makes a tiny cameo appearance too.Great for Christmas concerts - easy to play and a real toe-tapper which lets the guitar do what the guitar does best!I hope you enjoy performing this!

Guitar Ensemble Guitar - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797756 Composed by Bernard de la Monnoye. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Baroque,Christmas. Score and parts. 17 pages. Derek Hasted #4836609. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797756). PATAPAN - traditional carol - 4 GUITARS/LARGE ENSEMBLE For Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar. There are TWO ARRANGEMENTS in this one edition.Derek Hasted writes This Burgundian Carol, first published in 1720, usually has four verses in the French version and three in the English. This arrangement has three verses, all in slightly different styles. The melody and the onomatopoeia in the lyrics are together meant to symbolise the fife (“Ture-lure-luâ€) and the drum (“Pata-pata-panâ€).In both arrangements Guitar One has melody, and it fits nicely in a mix of IV and V position. There is no fingering, because your ensemble might want to choose between two different approaches...A less experienced ensemble might prefer to venture up the neck just to reach for the A and B notes, and return to the first position as soon as possible...A more experienced group might want to stay up the neck to get a more rounded tone throughout. Depending on your choice of fingering, slurs might be possible to improve the flow. There are two versions of the lower parts. In the first arrangement, in “SATB†style, Guitar 4 plays the bass; Guitar 3 provides, in the three verses, percussion, a choral countermelody, and finally a Hurdy-Gurdy style drone; Guitar provides a countermelody. In the second arrangement, the roles rotate at the end of each verse, so that all the accompanying players have three very different verses to play. Guitar 1 stays with the tune, because in a mixed ability ensemble, moving the tune about tends to highlight any weaknesses. This arrangement highlights the strengths!Percussion (the X-headed notes) works well if you tap the guitar near the bridge to get a deep bass drum.At the end, the brave amongst you can shout “Patapan†to bring the piece to a surprise conclusion...I hope you enjoy this piece!
