Canadian composer, Samuel Andreyev (b. 1981) studied at the Toronto Conservatory of Music. However, he moved to Paris in 2003 to study composition. He is a successful, contemporary composer, as demonstrated in Division De Nuit. Composed in 2008-10, Division De Nuit is arranged for the unusual instrumentation of Alto Flute, Cor Anglais, Clarinet, Trombone, Percussion, Piano and Double Bass. Andreyev's music is regularly performed at international festivals and has been used in films and productions. Division De Nuit won the composer the 2012 Henri Dutilleux prize. All parts of Division De Nuit makes use of extended techniques, and this book includes a helpful glossary and performance notes.
