Commissioned by the Musicians Benevolent Fund in the name of Sir Thomas Armstrong this work was first performed at Westminster Cathedral on 24 November 1999 by the Choirs of Westminster & St Paul's Cathedrals and Westminster Abbey conducted by James O'Donnell.
