Evelyn Rothwell (1911-2008) was a British musician who was considered one of the best oboists of her generation. She arranged Two Songs by Mozart for Oboe and Piano in 1969.Das Lied DerTrennung ( Song of Separation K. 519) was written in 1787 for Male Voice and Piano setting a text by Klamer Eberhard Karl Schmidt. Set in a minor key it explores the feelings of angst and pain created as two lovers areseparated. Un Moto Di Gioia Mi Sento ( I feel a surge of Joy K. 579) by contrast is a much happier piece. It was written in 1789 when Mozart was revising his famous opera The Marriage of Figaro and was originally written as a Soprano Aria.
