Originally for cello and piano the Idyll dates from 1865.Charming three minute salon piece for Double Bass and Piano with a nice simple piano part.It has a romantic song structure which makes full use of the stringed instruments warm sound and yearning intensity.I have found this piece very useful with my own pupils around the ABRSM grade 7 - 8 standard a very pleasant little filler piece.
