Jonathan Cole: Totem: Oboe: Instrumental Work

For Solo Oboe-One of the most exciting composers of his generation Jonathan Cole was awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society Composition Prize in 1999.Totem is a two movement eight minute piece for solo oboe. The title refers to the passing of ideas from one register to another. The coda to the first part is a high lament and is surrounded by two scurrying (and somewhat scurrilous) dances.
