Hans Werner Henze’s Ouverture zu einem Theater was commissioned by the Deutsche Oper Berlin with funding from the Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung. The world premiere took place on 20 October 2012 at the galaanniversary concert ‘100 years of the Deutsche Oper Berlin’ at Deutsche Oper Berlin with Orchester der Deutschen Oper Berlin conducted by Donald Runnicles.
