Song Of Songs was first written in 2009 and arranged for chamber ensemble in 2010. The lyrics were by Andrew Hawes and the chamber version was scored for solo Soprano SATB chorus String Quintet and Harp. It is written in six movements each inspired by a section of text from the Old Testament Book of the same name.Patrick Hawes (b. 1958) is a contemporary British composer. He has been building a reputation as one of the foremost composers working in the UK today a position which was cemented when he was appointed as Classic FM’s Composer in Residence for 2006-2007.
