Quintin Esquembre was born in Villena (Alicante) in 1885 and died in Madrid in 1965. The Playeras are gypsy seguidillas whose name comes from mournfulness according to the musician and philologist Sbarbi.This work was revised by Javier Suárez-Pajares in 2007.
