Eduardo Toldra (1895-1962) was a Catalan virtuoso violinist conductor and composer whose students included Ros-Marb and Montsalvatge. His compositional work consists largely of songs folk dances operas and orchestral pieces; rather traditional in style it was initially dismissed as old-fashioned compared to many of his contemporaries. Today however a revival in interest in Catalan folk music and its influences mean he is growing in popularity.Coleccion De Canciones: Volume 1 gathers together some of his best-loved songs for Voice and Piano showcasing his simple warm lyrical style.
