Hans Werner Henze's Sebastian im Traum was commissioned by the Eduard van Beinum Stichting the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra the Tonhalle-Gesellschaft and the New York Philharmonic and given its first performance on22nd December 2005 by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra conducted by Mariss Jansons at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam.
