One of the Four Motets composed in 1921 while studying with Nadia Boulanger in Paris. A dignified but altogether vernacular piece with direct uncomplicated harmonies which contrast with the avant-garde allusions of the time but which are typical of Copland's work. This church anthem has been set for full mixed choir and also includes a keyboard part for rehearsal purposes only.
