With Piano Pieces In C Minor Woo 52 And 53. Par BEETHOVEN LUDWIG VAN. Beethoven's Sonata Op. 10/1 was composed over a long period between 1795 and 1798 in which the composer could not decide for quite some time whether to go for four or three movements. Beethoven considered two piano pieces in C minor (WoO 52 and 53) as potential third movements before the finale until he eventually decided in favour of a three-movement version without minuet or scherzo. The present edition for the first time contains the two eliminated pieces in the appendix, not in order for the sonata to be now played with 4 or even 5 movements, but as a suggestion for the planning of a piano recital in which both the three-movement Sonata Op. 10/1 and the two piano pieces can be performed together./ Répertoire / Piano
