Par MENDELSSOHN-BARTHOLDY FELIX. Op. 96 exists in two authentic versions: a version with orchestral accompaniment and a version for organ. Mendelssohn published the version for organ as “Drei geistliche Lieder” [CV 40. 166/03]. The version with orchestra appeared under the title “Hymne für Altsolo, Chor und Orchester” [CV 40. 166] and it contained, in addition to the three sacred songs, a concluding fugue. Since there are minimal differences between the two versions, we suggest using the vocal score to perform the version for organ and to use the choral score to perform the version with orchestra./ Répertoire / Choeur Mixte et Orchestre
