Par SCOTT ANDY. Saxon Place is an opportunity to explore and improvise with colour and inflection, within a fully notated work. When I was writing Saxon Place I was hearing some of the saxophonists that I admire from the contemporary classical, jazz and funk worlds. Divided into three main sections that run continuously, part one is dynamic and articulate, part two has a free time introduction before settling into a slower groove, whilst part three is about energy and drive and musical conversation. The alternative fingerings that feature in part three do not need to have exact intonation, in fact the effect is better if they aren’t exactly in tune with the notated pitch! You may need to experiment with which palm keys that you use depending on saxophone of choice. Andy Scott / Date parution : 2021-12-09/ Répertoire / Saxophone
