for Solo Piano. Par PHILIPS JULIAN. Barcarola by Julian Philips is a 15-minute work for solo piano. It seeks to reinhabit the world of the 19th century Barcarolle as typified by Chopin, Liszt or Fauré, exploring the genre\'s distinctive motion, figurative patterns, and its formal tropes and poetic associations. On the surface, an imagined boat song underneath a morbid, dark undertow. Barcarola is dedicated to pianist Dominic Degavino. Completed in September 2019, Barcarola was premiered on 25 November 2019 by Dominic Degavino as part of a 50th birthday concert for Julian Philips, held at the Milton Court Concert Hall in London. This edition is the revised version of the score (EP 73673). / Date parution : 2022-09-07/ Répertoire / Piano
