This new edition of Cherubini's 'Médée' was awarded with the Deutscher Musikeditionspreis in 2008 and successfully performed in Vienna (2008), Brussels (2008/2011), Lisbon (2009), London (2010), and Paris (2012). It uncovers the original form, intended by the composer, of a central music-dramatic work of the repertoire and, for the first time, facilitates its interpretation according to the standards of the historical performance practice.Cherubini's 'Médée' is the work of a brilliant cosmopolitan in which influences of the Italian, German and French traditions of the late 18th century are combined. But in this work one can also notice a potential that was to develop both in the works of Beethoven and in the works of the Romantic composers.
