The long-breathed phrases of this setting paint a majestic picture of Mary and Simeon. Hill has dedicated this service to Lichfield Cathedral and the seventh century St. Chad. Hill develops a short opening motive throughout and gives opportunities for each voice to solo. The organ part provides a fifth voice and the vocal range is moderate.
