The Beatitudes

This exquisite setting of the Beatitudes takes its text from the Russian liturgy. The music's static nature is also influenced by Russian sacred music, as is the voicing which lends a richness and depth to the choral sound. Throughout, women's and men's voices are used alternately to express the nature of the text. The work ends with a rich harmonization of the words, when you come in your kngly power. The vocal parts stay in the middle and low range and the style is homophonic; lending a hymn-like atmosphere to the work.
