The pacing of this traditional spiritual brings forth a sense of awe and majesty heard from this angelic proclamation. All voice parts are set within middle registers with occasional divisi in the alto and bass lines. The march-like atmosphere is enhanced with 16th note fanfare figurations. This spiritual would be appropriate for a service of lessons and carols or could be used as an introit during the Christmas season.
