Mr. Near's sensitive text declamation is heard immediately in the opening soprano passage of the Magnificat while the balance and unity between the choir and organ reflects his sense of musical completeness. The Nunc Dimittis may be effectively used separately as an anthem for the Feast of the Presentation of Christ in the Temple.
