He wrote the famous overture at the age of 17 (!).
Mendelssohn was 34 toen de premi?re van 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' in 1843 plaatsvond. 'Dance of the Clowns' is een gedeelte, afkomstig uit dit prachtige werk, maar is ook in de ouverture al te horen. Die overbekende ouvertureschreef hij echter al op 17-jarige leeftijd (!).
