This solo is as bright and lively as the title indicates with its rhythmic and melodic vitality. Written in A-B-A form, the A section, in the key of C major, is light-hearted and fun to play as the melody jumps and skips around. The eight-measure B section is in the key of Ab major and is more lyrical. The damper pedal enhances the richer more...harmonies and textures used in this section. A two-measure transition leads to the return of A, and the piece ends with a repeated right-hand figure that sounds almost like a trill. This will be a great solo for students who want to show off on recitals!
