Ascribed to Dufay in one of its manuscript sources, this piece has not been accepted by scholars as possibly his until fairly recently. If this work is not by Dufay, it is certainly a Franco-Flemish composition of outstanding quality dating from the 1450's. As an early example of equal 4-voice polyphony and for its inherent beauty, this composition deserves to be better known and performed, whether or not it has Dufay's name attached to it.
