Vytautas Laurusas (*1930) studied at the State Conservatoire of Music; since 1994 he has been a professor there.
Vocal works and chamber music form the core of his output as a composer. In his works he uses a whole series of different composition techniques such as free twelve-tone technique, aleatory elements, minimalism and more traditional forms. ?Concento?, his viola duet in two movements, reflects this range. This refreshingly unconventional piece represents a most welcome addition to the meagre repertoire of mainly classical pieces for viola duo.
