Granados wrote only two works for piano 4 hands: En la aldea (In the Village), and Dos marchas militares (Two Military Marches). His only work scored for 2 pianos is not an original work, but is a transcription of "Triana" by Isaac Albeniz, originally written for piano solo. Granados performed numerous concerts of works for 2 pianos and piano 4 hands with Edouard Risler and with Joaquin Malats. Thus, it is somewhat surprising that he did not compose more works for either of these two formats. This edition is the first publication of En la aldea. The only previous edition of Dos marchas militares is the one published by Union Musical Espanola, Madrid. Editorial Boileau published Granados' transcription for 2 pianos of "Triana" for the first time in 1990.
