A wild herd of buffalo on the run will be easy to imagine with the musical and descriptive aspects used in this solo. The steady drumming of hooves is recreated in the left hand with a broken-fifth ostinato pattern. The right hand represents the tension of the stampede as blocked intervals condense from fifths to seconds and then to single notes. Written in a fast 4/4 meter and the key of D minor, one can hear the stampede across the plain and through the canyon. Hang on for a wild ride!
