Jayne Southwick Cool writes wonderful music for the smaller choir and this is an excellent example. Using the French folk tune Une Jeune Pucelle, as well as her orginal tune, Jayne creates a lovely setting for the Advent and Christmas season. After a chant-like introduction, the piece comes alive with rhythm, repetition and intensity. This piece would work well for mixed choirs of all ages.
