The Dutch composer Meindert Boekel (Amsterdam, 1914 n Hilversum, 1989) became famous because of the Scherzo from his "Suite Classique" already published by Molenaar Edition in 1948. Boekel was, no doubt, one of the pioneers of modern wind music in The Netherlands. He became popular as the first conductor of the Dutch National Brass Band in 1962. He composed some sixty works for band - several of them were of religious inspiration.
