This anthem is characterized by the use of heavy syncopation, subtle dissonances, and a driving rhythm, which intensifies the melody of this jubilant African-American spiritual. A tenor soloist is given the opportunity to shine with much of the stylistic nuances skillfully written into the solo part. The accompaniment is scored for organ but may be easily adapted to the piano. The arrangement may also be performed a cappella.
