Sobeck studied in Prague under Julius Pisafovic; played in theatre orchestra, became 1st clarinettist in Hanover's court orchestra; known as a soloist and teacher. This piece claims to be for "horn." But it would be extremely challenging for any mortal French Horn player. The Rosewood editors strongly suggest that the "horn" part be played by a basset-horn.
