Oscar Street (1869-1923) was a solicitor and underwriter; also an active amateur clarinettist; researched, collected, lectured on clarinet repertoire; Stanford dedicated his Clarinet Sonata to him together with the leading professional clarinettist of his day, Charles Draper. Street commissioned some works, including the Walthew Quintet.
