The idea of a journey brings
to mind recollections of time,
places, people that one has
met, and situations that one
has experienced. A journey
arouses emotions and
intimately traces distances
that one has already covered
or that will soon be covered.
Memories and experiences of
past trips create a
distinctive play ruled by
fantasy and emotions, which
stimulates the beginning of
other new and unknown
journeys. The composition
"Time to Travel" portrays two
ideal moments. The first,
deeply connected to images,
sounds, and experienced
situations, is the journey
whose shared experiences left
a deep and permanent sign,
which accompanies the moment
of one's life. Here, memory
has the leading role. The
second is a more intimate and
indefi nable journey, a
solitary ascension towards the
unlimited peaks of imagination
that projects memories in the
future. Angelo Sormani has
written and dedicated this
work to his friend, the
conductor Bruno Bigoni. The
featured instruments, flute
and saxophone, are the ones
Bigoni loved, played, and
taught; a simple token in
memory of the many journeys
taken together and a symbolic
embrace for the ones to come.
