Commissioned by the Lawrence University 2010 Jazz Weekend (Appleton, WI), this work features a straight 8th-note groove which creates a unique setting for creative solo work and exciting ensemble playing. The opening 28 bars featuring horns only is a definite highlight, along with a powerful shout chorus and quiet close. Rhythm section parts are partially notated with chords cued. Duration ca. 7:30.
