Alexander Brent-Smith (1889-1950) was a composer, author and teacher; his compositions include four comic operas (some written for Gloucester Technical College and for which he wrote the words as well as the music), six choral compositions (also written for the Three Choirs Festival), four orchestral works, nine concertos and some chamber music. The majority of Brent-Smith's work, published works as well as those still in manuscript form, is lodged in the Library at the Royal College of Music in London.
