The African-American spiritual Sometimes I feel like a Motherless Child is used as a longing introduction to O Come, O Come, Emmanuel. The combination of these two powerful pieces gives additional understanding to both texts. The piece may be performed in unique ways by using creative spacing of the choir and soloist.
