Elegy for Alto Saxophone and Wind Orchestra is a warm, melodic work of compelling expression. After an opening of gentle introspection, an ostinato in the piano unfolds which will proceed to dominate the ensuing texture of the entire work. Written by the composer when he was 24 this work clearly indicates the roots of what will become the music of Luigi Zaninelli.
