Lone Wolf (2004) is an original new work for solo bass clarinet by American composer Gregory Youtz. This dramatic six-movement work is a highly effective performance piece which is accessible in terms of range and technical demands. The work covers the full spectrum from lyric and melodic emphasis in the first and fifth movements, to a fascinating movement using well-notated key clicks to give a very musical percussive effect. We expect that Lone Wolf will become a mainstay for advanced high school and college bass clarinetists. Publication includes program notes written by the composer.
