Paul J. Sifler, born in Ljubljana, Slovenia, immigrated to the United States at the age of 11, and following his studies at the Chicago Conservatory as music, led a long and prolific career as a composer and organist. The fifth of his five Hymnus volumes of organ works includes: Pastorale I, Pastorale II, "The Lord of All" (Adon Olam), "Peace Be with You" (Sholom Alaychem), and "God of Might" (Adir Hu). The final three works in the collection are cumulatively titled Three Preludes on Hebrew Hymns.
