Commissioned in honor of those lost during COVID, Heather Sorenson's Requiem was written to bring hope and healing to all who have experienced loss. This work was designed not only to live well in the concert hall, but also to transition into the church sanctuary. You can expect to hear the composer's trademark cinematic moments, soaring choral melodies, and impressionistic chord structures in this Requiem. More importantly, you will find the vulnerable humanity that has become synonymous with her writings. This work is a combination of traditional Latin and English, with references to Scripture and hymn texts. It is accompanied by full orchestra or chamber orchestra, includes soprano and tenor soloists, and is approximately 35 minutes in length.
