One of today's most popular trumpet concerts is actually a horn concert: Neruda composed it around 1750 at the Dresden court, where he met the greatest horn virtuosos of his time. Accordingly, the solo part is extremely demanding and moves consistently in the high and highest Clarin layers (up to g '' '), so that it is even on the modern valve horn only for very few players executable, on the other hand trumpet makes little effort. The new edition of G. Henle Publishing, based on the only surviving manuscript source in Prague, takes into account this modern performance practice and therefore also contains voices for trumpet in Eb and Bb. |
