Grade 2+ string players will be captivated by this piece that pays tribute to the legendary bird of prey, whose populations are again rising as their ecosystems are increasingly restored. The driving rhythms of the opening D minor theme portray a falcon on the hunt, followed by a section in 3/4 featuring a rhythmic pulse that depicts the strong wing beats of a falcon's flight pattern. A major motif introduced in the Coda brings this work to a majestic close. Each set includes three copies of the 3rd Violin/Viola T.C. part and optional parts for piano and percussion (2 players).
