This lesson is intended for players who are seeking a greater understanding of how to get beyond basic open chords, or first position, use the full fretboard. We will do so by understanding the concept of a movable shape. The tunes selected will slowly introduce you to a variety of shapes commonly used by the old-time masters to unlock the neck. In addition to learning these examples, I?ll talk about the logic that makes movable shapes work, empowering you to create your own uses for them. You will learn tunes that have become standards in the fingerstyle repertoire by Sam McGee, Big Bill Broonzy and Maybelle Carter.
