In his quintet dating from 1993 Heinio draws on Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking-Glass. The musicians performing this work are offered a touch of physical drama. As they play they are expected to speak and hum fragments from Carroll's book going through the dialogue between Alice, Tweedledum and Tweedledee; this adds its own rhythmic and dramatic perspective to the exciting music. The work was premiered at the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival in summer 1994.
