Format : Vocal Score

SATB-The practice of singing 'The Reproaches' probably had its origin in Constantinople in the second century and was subsequently instroduced to the western church at Rome. Since 1560 'The Reproaches' have been sung on Good Friday in the Sistene Chapel. Their eastern origin explains the three Greek phrases which were retained when the text was translated into Latin. The text is based on passages from Micah and other prophets and the Greek refrain (number 5) is the Trisagion. The English version is by Jean Lunn. This setting by Daniel Pinkham was first performed on March 16 1960 in Jordan Hall Boston by Lorna Cooke deVaron and the Chamber Singers of the New England Conservatory of Music.
