In 1783 Mozart fascinated by the counterpoint of J. S. Bach wrote a Fugue K.426 for two Keyboards. Then in 1788 he re-arranged the fugue for Strings and added a brief but beautiful Adagio. The entire work lasts less than 10 minutes but is a fantastic example of Mozart's late compositional excellence.
