Based on the Chinese folk legend of bells that ring out untouched by humans this work gives a haunting and atmospheric narrative of this well-known myth. Percussive piano techniques glassy string sounds and a highly expressive clarinet part - representative of the wind that carries the ringing of the bells - make for a delicately coloured gripping work that brings to light the largely unexplored nuances of the instruments.
