Philip Ramey: Fanfare Sonata: Trumpet: Instrumental Work

7.99 EUR - See more - Buy online

The Fanfare Sonata one of the rather too few works for solo trumpet takes its name from the fanfare-like gestures which are the basis of much of its melodic and rhythmic material. In the opening Moderato there is an incantational first theme and an angularly lyric rather wistful second theme. These themes reappear in the slow movement (Andante tenebroso) which is a development of both old and new material. The finale (Allegro burlesco) is sprightly propulsive and high spirited until a final radical shift in mood takes place and the piece ends with a harsh declamatory coda.
